I gave up with my personal music library about 10 years ago and mainly stream from Soundcloud. I’ve even themed the web client numerous times over the years so it looks decent and fits my system theme. So I’ve not really ripped any music or listened to my offline collection in a decade or more.

I stopped paying for Soundcloud+, and even with + I can’t upload my own library, so I am missing music I own on CD that is sitting ripped on a drive ready to go, but rarely listened to.

When DHH released Omarchy Quattro based on Quickshell I got jealous and rebuilt my desktop in Quickshell, including a music player than can pull in from Soundcloud and sort my music.

Firstly it’s made me explore my decently sized 10,000 mp3s.

And secondly even though I have an OCD folder structure for my music (sorted into genre, albums, years etc) i’ve never bothered really tagging properly as every tagging app I’ve tried in the past has been crap.

Just use Composer 2.5 for music tagging

While using Composer 2.5 to build the music player and thinking about tagging within the player, I realised I was already bulk tagging my music just by asking. Composer was building the python scripts

Just use Composer 2.5 (you don’t the fast option, making it even cheaper).

Download the agent and then open it in your music folder.

If you are a wimp then backup or copy a single folder to work on.
